I absolutely love this book, Outwitting the Devil by Napoleon Hill and I think it should be required reading for everyone!! I had heard about it before I found it, but I bought it more so because it was recommended when I was buying Think and Grow Rich for Women. And I am so glad I bought it.
Hill was someone I wish I could have talked to and I learned this from reading this book. I couldn’t even read his book Think and Grow Rich until after I had read this book – Outwitting the Devil and Think and Grow Rich for Women. I just couldn’t get into it. But now I can and I’m glad I have it.
Hill was way ahead of his time in his writing and it really shows in this book. This could also be one of the reasons why this book was published over 70 years after it was written.
I even had a hard time stopping reading at some points because I love this book. It was so easy for me to get into and just keep reading.
During the book, Napoleon is having a conversation with the devil. This conversation reveals ways in which humans can outwit the devil and live a positive life. We struggle with negativity in this world today and that is what the devil feeds on and makes the negativity just keep growing. 98 out of every 100 people are in the Devil’s grasp and that is exactly how he likes it.
No one knows if the conversation was real or just in Napoleon’s head. But frankly, I don’t care. There is so much information here that can be used by us today to keep filling the world with positivity and removing the devil from our lives.
My Biggest Takeaways from this book
- 2 (or more) heads are always better than one. This was a big part of Think and Grow Rich too. But masterminding and using the ideas of more than one person at a time definitely helps with defeating the devil and loading up the positivity wheel.
- Negativity and politics (2 things I don’t like and never have liked) are what the Devil feeds off of and helps to keep people on his side of the fence. It is a conscious choice for you to focus on positivity, which the Devil doesn’t like, but once you’ve changed over and become independent, the Devil doesn’t try to sway you back, he knows he’s lost you from his grasp.
- Life really is your choice to live how you want to live it. You have two paths to choose from, but too many people don’t choose the path towards positivity because they aren’t open to exploring new roads and being a better person.
- Hill and the Devil share 7 main topics that can really make your life the best life it can be. But again, just like everything else in your life, it’s your choice to use them or not and you really can outwit the devil.
Would I recommend this Book?
Oh heck yes, I would recommend this book! I actually think it should be required reading for everyone. Everyone who reads this book will walk away with at least one thing new that they didn’t know before because this book is chock full of some amazing gems.
